ROOTED: WIT NSBE’s 26′ GALA

About WIT NSBE

The National Society of Black Engineers (NSBE) chapter at Wentworth Institute of Technology has served as a home, a support system, and a launchpad for Black engineers on our campus for over three decades.

Founded in 1994, WIT NSBE is dedicated to increasing the number of culturally responsible Black engineers who excel academically, succeed professionally, and positively impact the community. Through professional development, academic support, leadership training, and community engagement, our chapter continues to create spaces where students can thrive.

About ROOTED

ROOTED is WIT NSBE’s first-ever gala, a moment to pause, reflect, and celebrate everything that has grown from the seeds planted 32 years ago.

This evening honors our chapter’s history while uplifting the students, leaders, and community members shaping its future. ROOTED is a celebration of legacy, culture, creativity, and the continued impact of Black excellence in STEM.

Founder Recognition

This year’s gala holds special significance as we honor Professor Leon Cort, the founder of the WIT NSBE chapter. Professor Cort’s vision and commitment laid the foundation for decades of student success, leadership, and community. ROOTED recognizes his lasting impact and the legacy he continues to inspire across generations of engineers at Wentworth.
